About
Started in 2006 as a side-project in which to express my passion for music and the amazing roster of live shows that surrounded me daily in NYC, this blog soon became my love child. Then somehow, someway, it grew into a bratty teenager that I couldn’t bear to look at anymore. It became a job, and I started to neglect it like a red-headed stepchild. And after it began turning tricks and smoking crack out on the streets, it became so unattractive that something had to be done.
Now here we are, at nearly the end of 2010, and I’ve gotten my blog clean and finally turned it back into a respectable blog. But WNR will no longer be the pusherman of label and artist submissions that it once was. I’m reclaiming it as my baby, and that means I’m going back to posting about the things I’m most passionate about or most entertained by. Not that I’ve ever posted something I didn’t like, but I wasn’t keen on it feeling like an overwhelming duty either. I really don’t want to be a music critic. I only want to be a music lover like I once was. So let’s start again…
Original mission statement from 2006: Music – it’s what moves us. It’s what mends broken hearts and adds joy to new beginnings. It’s what brings expression to our movements and rhythm to our feet. But if we’re not careful, the good of it may go extinct. Radio is primarily run by greed of the green, and to that… I don’t agree. As technology progresses, we are becoming more able to discover and share music all on our own. So really, who needs radio?
